SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Aeria Games, a leading global publisher of microtransaction-based online games, has raised $25,000 for victims of the recent tsunami and earthquake devastation in Japan. The donation was organized through a sale of game item packages specifically created to fund disaster relief efforts, with additional matching by Aeria Games. The fundraiser event ran from March 16th to March 31st and all proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Fund, or its equivalent in Japan.

“We’re very proud of the compassion and generosity shown by our community of players in helping the unfortunate victims of the recent devastation in Japan,” stated Lan Hoang, CEO at Aeria Games, who resides in Tokyo, Japan. “We hope these contributions will help Japan’s long road to recovery in the coming months. Our thoughts remain with those affected by the tragedy.”

Players across North America, Europe, and Latin America showed their support for relief efforts in Japan during the event. Community forum announcements asked players to donate by purchasing unique Japan Red Cross Benefit Packages available in many of Aeria Games’ titles. Games such as Dynasty Warriors Online and Grand Fantasia included specific armors or robes that could be worn in game. Players were encouraged to show off these items with pride, inspiring others to donate to the cause.
