About a month after we heard that the Jungle mobile online gaming device from Panasonic was canceled, another great innovation has come for free-to-play gamers to be wild about!

This time around it’s from Sony! According to Sony Online Entertainment (SOE), the upcoming NGP handheld should be perfectly suited for MMOs. The system can also play PSP, minis and PS one game titles.

John Smedley from SOE stated, “With the console, we’re selling to an audience that already has the PS3 obviously – and by the way not just the PS3, but in the future I can see other devices. Sony’s announced the NGP, and if that isn’t a perfect machine for doing MMOs on, then I don’t know what is,”

The Sony NGP features a quad core Cortex-A9 processor and a quad core PowerVR SGX543MP4+ GPU for all your online gaming/social needs. The NGP (Next Gen Portable) technical specifications include a multi touch 5 inch OLED display screen, dual analog sticks, touchpad, front and rear cameras, Wi-Fi, built-in stereo speakers, built-in GPS, tilt sensitive controls and more. SOE has released many new free-to-play MMO titles this year including Magic: The Gathering - Tactics on the PC and Free Realms, the very first free-to-play MMO for the PS3. Could this be the portable handheld for all free-to-play MMO game publishers to think about?
