Aion Free-to-Play

A new game publisher for Aion has been revealed! Gameforge has plans to relaunch NCSoft’s Aion as a free to play game this coming February 2012! For the switch, NCSoft has partnered with German publisher Gameforge which is well known as the leading developer and publisher of online games in Europe. By switching to free-to-play, the lands of Atreia will be filled with new adventurers who will help build a stronger Aion community. The switch to free-to-play will drop the monthly subscription fee and make it free for everyone with payments that are optional to the player. Existing players will have a Veteran account for their loyalty which comes with less limitations.
Aion Free-to-Play will only have a few limitations for new players like trading and chat. All classes, regions and instances will be playable to you. Level up your character to level 55 and complete the storyline through 3,900 different quests! There will be 3 different account types: Starter, Veteran and Gold Pack. Starter accounts are only allowed 2 character slots, Veterans are allowed 8 character slots and either accounts can upgrade to Gold Pack.
