Followers of Dungeons & Dragons have just discovered that their long awaited Neverwinter MMO will be delayed due to its business model shifting to free-to-play and also the restructuring of the game to a full fledge MMO. Cryptic Studios was acquired by the leading free to play online game publisher Perfect World which has recently transformed other Cryptic games like Star Trek Online to free-to-play. Neverwinter is an online RPG in line with the renowned Dungeons & Dragons fantasy roleplaying game. This is not the first game from the Dungeons & Dragons franchise that went free-to-play as we have all been aware of the very successful F2P game Dungeons & Dragons Online (DDO) from Turbine. The developer of Neverwinter has stated that the game will be comparable to Nexon’s Vindictus, where fighting is mastered by clicks of the mouse, and where pattern recognition and reflexes are the fundamentals for effectively killing large numbers of enemies.

Neverwinter features epic tales, tactical game play as well as vintage roleplaying waiting for those players brave enough to penetrate the wonderful realm of Neverwinter. In Neverwinter, you can investigate and protect 1 of Dungeons & Dragons’ most precious cities as it soars from the ashes of wreckage. This online game will guide you through the trapped walls of the city to subterranean passageways in the hunt for forgotten secrets and lost treasure. Confront treacherous opponents and risky environments. Function strategically with other people to get rid of demons, nightmares, monsters and beasts of legend. Or even guide AI-directed henchmen as you preserve Neverwinter from the verge of destruction.
